What is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga?

Ashtanga is a structured style of yoga practice introduced by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 1975. The word Ashtanga is composed of two Sanskrit words, “Ashta” and “Anga.” “Ashta” refers to the number eight, while “Anga” means limb or body part. Therefore, Ashtanga is the union of the eight limbs of yoga, into one complete, holistic system. These eight-limbs of yoga represent the various branches of the philosophy of the yoga sutras that form the foundation in the Ashtanga Yoga School.

The Ashtanga philosophy is to integrate all of the eight limbs of yoga, which include: Yama (moral codes), Niyama (self-discipline), Asana (posture), Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (sense withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (oneness with the self). Vinyasa is a Sanskrit phrase, roughly translated as "to place in a purposeful way", meaning the sequence of asana becomes a seamless flow. So an Ashtanga Vinyasa flow class will feature Ashtanga postures which are synchronised into a flowing sequence.

Vinyasa classes will encourage the student to practice fluid movement linking postures together and transitioning from pose to pose with the intention of using the breath to create a moving meditation.

What is Iyengar alignment with props?

The system of yoga known as “Iyengar Yoga” was created and developed over 75 years ago by Yogacharya B.K.S.Iyengar. B.K.S Iyengar devoted his life to the evolution of his approach to yoga, based on the traditional eight limbs of yoga taught over 2500 years ago by the sage Patanjali. The Iyengar yoga system of teaching is methodical and progressive, emphasising detailed correctness and absolute safety.

When necessary, it uses supports called ‘props’ that allow students to progress in their practice of postures safely at their own pace, to suit their body. Beginners work in a basic way on simple postures according to their capabilities. As they develop they then move on to more refined ways of working as well as to more complex postures. The methodology of Iyengar yoga means it is suitable for everyone, whatever your ability, age, body shape or level of flexibility. You’ll learn through a carefully graded and systematic programme of Asana (posture), suited to your ability

Our mission is to train confident Yoga teachers. When you complete your course you will:

  • Understand the history and lineage of yoga and gain a deep understanding of yoga's philosophy

What is Hatha Yoga?

Hatha yoga is a traditional branch of yoga, focusing on a pose for an extended period of time with awareness of breath and mind.

The roots of Hatha yoga can be traced back to ancient India but became more systematised with texts such as Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

“Ha” translates as Sun and “Tha” means moon. Essentially the practice aims to balance the yin and yang energies within and the male and female energy (shiva and shakti) - the sun and moon.

Hatha yoga emphasises the physical body as a tool for spiritual development. Through disciplined practice, Hatha Yoga aims to purify the body, control the breath and steady the mind.

If we say Hatha Vinyasa then it is more dynamic in structure and sequence.

Your Guides on the Path

Guru Risi SriVaso

"Fitness for the witness, alignment to enlightenment."

Risi SriVaso is a visionary Yoga master, Sanskrit scholar, and lifelong disciple of the enlightened master Osho. Born into a traditional Hindu family deeply rooted in the systems of Tantra and Yoga, Risi began his spiritual studies at an early age—learning Sanskrit, studying sacred scriptures, and immersing himself in Ashram life to absorb the original essence of Yogic wisdom.

Over the years, he studied under some of the most respected teachers of our time, including B.K.S. Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois, and J. Krishnamurti. His time with Iyengar was especially formative, even assisting in medical therapy classes led by Iyengar himself. Under Krishnamurti’s influence, Risi developed a profound understanding of the nature of thought, silence, and awareness.

In 2013, following Iyengar’s personal encouragement, Risi founded MYT Yoga School in India and later Ojas Vedic Academy in Bali. His vision is to unify Mantra, Yantra, and Tantra, offering students a holistic path that bridges the ancient with the modern.

Having translated multiple works from Osho into Sanskrit, Risi carries the torch of his teachers through an approach that is both rooted in tradition and alive with transformative energy. His journey was profoundly shaped by his years in Osho’s Ashram, where the practice of “Work as Meditation” catalyzed a deep energetic awakening. Risi describes it as a full rewiring of the physical and energetic system into a state of inner ecstasy.

Today, Risi continues to share his teachings across the globe through teacher trainings, retreats, and the growing network of Yoga schools led by his students worldwide.

Jogini Lila

Co-founder and Senior Yoga Teacher

Born and raised in a Buddhist family in Japan. Lila’s early exposure to spirituality fostered a deep-seated curiosity and respect for ancient wisdom.

Lila attended her first yoga classes in Japan, sparking a burning desire to delve deeper into the roots of yoga and meditation and travel to India. Lila’s journey through India was transformative, leading her to Pune in 2012, where her path crossed with two monumental figures in the spiritual world: Osho and B.K.S. Iyengar.

Under Guruji Iyengar's direct guidance, she dedicated nearly two years to learning and mastering the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Series, infused with Iyengar’s meticulous principles of alignment and the innovative use of yoga props.

Lila joined Risi Srivaso's Yoga TTC and later became part of the teaching team when he founded his Yoga School.

Lila continues her practice with a relentless focus on self-discipline and determination, which deeply enriched my understanding and skill. Her years of rigorous practice and learning allow her to guide students safely and effectively, ensuring they embark on their yoga journey with the right balance of challenge and care.

Sasa Siddho

Co-founder, Senior Teacher and Anatomy Teacher

Raised in a traditional Hindu family in India, Sasa grew up immersed in the recitation of mantras, yogic practices, and tantric ceremonies from an early age. This upbringing cultivated her  spiritual inclinations, ultimately leading Sasa to Osho’s Ashram in Pune in 2017, where she met Risi SriVaso, marking a transformative phase in my spiritual journey.

On her 21st birthday Sasa received initiation into the Osho lineage of meditation, deeply resonating with his teachings and vision. This commitment heralded a new era of spiritual exploration for Sasa, she pursued yoga training at the MYT Yoga School, where her dedication saw her rise to become one of its Directors.

Teaching yoga has always been a fervent passion for Sas, particularly in the disciplines of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Bhakti Yoga. She is constantly sharpening and strengthening her ability to make complex concepts in anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics accessible and joyfully interesting to her students.
